1.8.4 background CPU consuming when viewing single file
I have a folder which contains about 2000 8k-resolution pictures optimized with ImageOptim. When I use XnView MP to view a single one in viewer mode, after some seconds, xnviewmp.exe started to burn the CPU.
I used System Informer and found xnviewmp opened other files in the same folder in a low-priority thread. I guess it's scanning and generating thumbnails.
What should I do if I don't want xnviewmp to do it when I am viewing a single file?
Thank you.

Can the folder image scanning be skipped if there is only a viewer tab/window (or if there is no browser tab/window)?
For a folder containing a large number of images, the scanning thread looks like it never ends.

It is needed to know which files do you have when using previous/next file
You don't use catalog?

I don't use catalog / cache.
If there are tens of images, the CPU consuming is not a problem: the scanning usually ends in seconds.
If a previous/next file is needed to be decoded, CPU consuming should end in a short while, but in fact, the background decoding thread is working on all files in the same folder of the picture I am viewing.

I means that all files need to be checked to update file list. But in your case, you don't use cache so the decoding threading is working each time.jdp1024 wrote: Thu Feb 06, 2025 3:17 pm If a previous/next file is needed to be decoded, CPU consuming should end in a short while, but in fact, the background decoding thread is working on all files in the same folder of the picture I am viewing.
Is it possible to send you a test version?
Pierre.
