In 1.8.3, exif information could be kept or not when converting into jpeg-xl, depending on whether the corresponding checkbox was ticked or not. This does not work in 1.8.4: the exif information is always preserved, irrespective the case is ticked or not (but 1.8.4 works as expected when batch converting into into classical jpeg files, so the issue is probably specific to jpeg-xl)

Thanks to your detailed description I can reproduce the problem.

This problem is supposed to be fixed in XnView MP 1.8.6. Please check and confirm the bug fix here.
