Can XnView retain the original file creation date during copy?

Is it possible with XnView MP to preserve the image file create date when copying files? (I realize that the date taken is included in image metadata)
I tried the Keep original date/time option under Tools / Settings/ General / File Operations, but that doesn't seem to apply to copying files (based on a trial with a few files)
Am I missing a way to do this? If not, please consider adding an option or another way to accomplish this when copying.
Thanks.

Thanks for the reply, sorry for the delay. Unfortunately notification e-mails are not arriving (yes I check the spam folder), so I just saw your message.
Yes, usually drag and drop as I recall.
1) Does the date behave depend on which method is used? If so, can you pls explain or point me to an explanation?
2) Is there a way to dopy files using XnView that does retain the original dates?
regards,
RTG
