XnView Software

I've looked at, and changed, various settings in this program. Read a few forum posts from Google. I still cannot find a way to simply close this program when I press 'escape', like I have done with Irfanview for years. I'm sure I'm missing something, could someone please point me to where I'm going wrong? I simply want to double click an image from Windows Explorer to open it and then press escape when I'm done with it.

The Tools > Settings... > Interface > Keyboard menu has separate options to configure the Esc key to close the program when in the viewer or browser, so if necessary you could enable both options...

Yes, I have that enabled, but escape does nothing...

rename your xnview.ini to reset settings to default

Thank you! That did it. I'll keep using this in place of Irfanview I think, it's a good program.
