Matroska Files

Hello, I was wondering if there was a way of configuring xnview to recognize and make thumbnails for matroska files. I can get the program to make thumbnails of the files by changing the extension of the files from .mkv to .wmv. So, xnview is using directshow to create the video thumbnails. Therefore it is not a matter of full fledge matroska support so much as it is a matter of getting xnview to recognize the .mkv file extension. Having to change the file extension is not only a pain but it also creates problems with my video player. Is there some windows or xnview setting I could change or some file I could edit to have xnview recognize files with a .mkv extension and therefore create video thumbnails for?

It would seem to be that simple. All I did to get xnview to make thumbnails of my matroska files were to change to file extension to .wmv. For some reason xnview does not know what to do with .mkv files.

Also keep in mind that the user will still have to have the proper matroska directshow filters and video codecs installed on his computer or xnview will not be able to use directshow to make thumbnails of the file or view it.

Could you add also .3gp please? It works too when I rename it to e.g. .avi.

Perhaps you need a codec?

You need a Matroska Splitter and Matroska Muxer:
http://sourceforge.net/project/showfile ... p_id=82303
Extract them to "C:\Winnt\System32" and regsvr32.exe to register them into the Registery.
