1.9.1 : An old bug regarding hierarchical classification

An old bug that's been bothering me for a long time.
I extensively use hierarchical classification within the image itself through IPTC and XMP.
To do this, the settings are as follows: IPTC: Keywords & Categories
Keywords: diving|2025|CF, diving|2025|CF|selection 1, diving|2025|CF|selection 2, diving|2025|CF|mobile fauna, diving|2025|CF|mobile fauna|selection
We can see that this image belongs to six categories.
I want to remove it from a category.
My procedure is as follows:
- I go to the relevant category using the "Catalog Filter" panel.
- I select the image, right-click, and select Remove from Category. - Metadata > Update File from Catalog
So far, so good.
The problem occurs if you try to delete the very last category using the same procedure.
If the category you're trying to delete is the last remaining category, after deleting and updating the file, the last category remains in the IPTC keywords (not in the XMP).
The workaround I found is to delete the category via the categories panel: But this is clearly a bug.
