so your screenshot looks correct, you use 'embedded image' for viewing, and 'full size' for convert

the issue with not respecting Convert setting is fixed
so you can change 2 comboboxes (and rendering options) to whatever you need:

check 'Camera RAW' settings in Settings>Formats>Read
by default, its:

• for Viewing
  - Embedded preview (JPEG)

• for Converting
  - Full size
  - some adjustments from 'Full/Half size rendering group'

ps. you know that Camera RAW files (NEF, CR2, DNG, etc.) usually contain embedded JPEG (for fast preview) in addition to RAW data, right?

it's up to you; you can use any of the sources:
- jpeg preview OR
- raw image data (and adjust colors yourself)

if jpeg preview looks right - use it
