MAC v1.9.2 - fails to save image edit

Just got latest version on Mac M3
XnView MP v 1.9.2 64-bit - LibFormat 7.226
Pressing the tool bar Save, or via the File Save or Save As and using default name and jpg or switching to png, all fail.
Error dialog - "An error occurred during saving!"
On the MAC system settings - XnViewMP has permission to write to download and desktop.
Not the most helpful error message.
