Low quality thumbnails in catalog, even with caching disabled

Good afternoon, XnView developers. I have been using your program for a long time and I am very satisfied with it. However, I encountered an issue in the catalog: the thumbnails appear to be of low quality. In the screenshot below, you can see that the images in the catalog look blurry, while in the preview window they are clear and readable. Could you please advise me on how to fix this?

I would also like to note that I disabled thumbnail caching in the program settings, as I don’t see the need for it. My computer is modern and powerful enough, so additional image caching is not required. However, disabling caching did not affect the quality of the displayed thumbnails. If needed, I can provide screenshots of my program settings-just let me know, and I will be happy to send them to help resolve this issue.

For some reason, the screenshots you posted are not viewable in Britain or I imagine in some other countries... :(

I have updated the image. Please check if it is visible on your side. I am located in Spain, not far from the UK, and the image displays correctly for me. I uploaded it to the popular image hosting service Imgur. It is strange that such an issue occurs.

2. Thumbnail rendering
2.1. rendering size (Browser > View > Thumbnails size)
is image/embedded thumb size > thumb rendering size
☑ source will be shrunk to rendered size
☐ source will have original size

It is strange, your documentation states that there is a VIEW option in the browser settings section. However, I am using the latest version of your program, and I cannot find this option. Could it have been moved to another location? Please let me know what I might be doing wrong.

Yes, the new links are working, you can edit your posts to delete the original links... :D

Unfortunately, this did not help. The images became larger in size, but their quality did not improve.

Thumbnails quality decreased (became blurry) in Browser when you increased their size from default 128x96 to, eg, 500x500.

Fix depends on the thumbnail caching setting
  • ☐ Thumbnail caching disabled
    option A
    1. in Settings > Thumbnail
    - uncheck Use embedded thumbnail OR
    - check Create from original image if embedded thumbnail is smaller than thumbnail [rendering] size
    2. press OK

    option B
    1. delete embedded thumbnails from files*
    - select files
    - select EXIF Thumbnail in Browser > Metadata > Clean.. dialog
    2. press OK

* Available only for JPEG images

☐ Thumbnail caching disabled
option A
1. in Settings > Thumbnail
- uncheck Use embedded thumbnail OR
- check Create from original image if embedded thumbnail is smaller than thumbnail [rendering] size
2. press OK
Thank you very much, guys. This solution really helped.
