Can't open new jpg (screenshot of recent game)

Hello; I'm using the zipped versions of XnView and XnView MP without installation.
I'm getting a strange error, only when opening screenshots of a very recent game, Ghost of Yotei. I copy these screenshots to my PC via a USB drive from a PS5 console.
My PC is running Windows 11, with XnView Classic as the default jpg viewer.

XnView refuses to open them: "Error opening file" message on the screen ("Erreur durant l'ouverture du fichier [chemin d'accès]")
XnView MP opens them without a problem, as does DxO.
Other jpgs, regardless of their origin (screenshots, photos, web) always open without a problem in XnView Classic.
I downloaded the latest versions, same behavior.
I copied the files to a laptop (similar configuration, Windows 11 FR/BE, XnView and XnView MP in zipped formats, XnView as the jpg viewer), same behavior.

Is this a specific element in these JPGs that XnView Classic no longer supports?
I still tend to prefer the classic version for viewing; I have trouble configuring the XnView MP interface to my liking (just the folder tree in vertical view, the thumbnails in vertical view, and the selected image in large view across the rest of the screen)...
Thank you / Merci :)

In which software are the screenshots saved?

I think you will have to post the file and hopefully someone will have a look, but please place it in a ZIP as there has been a lot of spam related to games posted recently.

The screenshots are taken directly within the PS5.

But as I said, they open as usual in XnView MP or DxO or any other software even Paint

I think you will have to post an example JPEG file, which hopefully someone will examine closely to find out why it doesn't open in XnView Classic, but as indicated please attach it as a ZIP file.

If it is any help you can download earlier versions of XnView Classic to test here.

I just tried older versions of XnView Classic with same results
XnView-win-2-49-2
XnView-win-small_2.51.1

Opening the program and then going to the folder with the screenshots; it simply do not open the folder. The focus returns to the previous selected folder.
With the latest version it is the same, and also with right clic > open with or double clic with XnView as default viewer.

And XnView can't open also the jpg exported from DxO : here is one file resized to full HD for upload
Ghost of Yōtei_20251003214727_DxO_resized.zip
(636.56 KiB) Downloaded 506 times

That JPEG doesn't open in XnView Classic, you say you have resized it which creates a new file? And also refer to folders that aren't displayed as well as images that can't be viewed?

Note: I'm a Linux user and so can't easily run XnView Classic even if I had the time.

Yes I have resized it with XnView MP and save as another file. Which doesn't open either with XnView Classic.

Original file is 4K jpg with a size around 3MB which I can't upload here.

I'll try launching other games for which I already have screenshots that open normally with XnView Classic, making new ones and see if it still works. In case it's a system update for the console that has changed something.

But everything works normally with other software like XnView MP, DxO, etc.

If you want to progress this, I think you need to provide a download link to a ZIP containing exactly what you are exporting from DxO with steps to reproduce the issue.
