Hi!
I use Shotwell on Linux for my personal photos
But I have to use Win at work
So I have decided to use XnView for my (separate) work photos
I know that XnView is great and available on Linux (arch by the way
) but I am going to stick with Shotwell on Linux, because.
I am used to work with thumbnails with just the tags written underneath, and a tree of nested tags on the left pane (In shotwell), with a simple Click+Shift &/or Click+ctrl for selecting files and then ctrl+T to tag them
I used to have that (or something similar) on XnView on Windows (when I tried to use it for both linux and windows in dual boot, long story) but now I have clean reinstalled (via REVO uninstaller) I cant for the life of me remember how to set it up again
I am also very confused about what XnView thinks 'Tagging' is and what 'categories' are, and how to 'write tags to files' - which I normally do)
Can anyone help me, direct me to info on etc?
I am not a photographer, so just use home photos as snaps of life and at work I am a Uni Lecturer / Researcher who uses photos as a media.
If I have made no sense, please let me know how I should clarify myself please
Best wishes to all
Leigh
