Is it possible to associate XnView to AUDIO files?

I'm considering switching from Irfanview to XnView, because Xn has a much broader set of features and the interface is more user-friendly.
But I have met with a potential problem that refrains me to switch. I currently have my *.wav files associated with irfaview so that it opens when i double click on a wav file. I prefer Irfanview over my MP3 player program mainly because of its starting speed. I don't want to wait 5 or 10 seconds for Media Monkey to load just to play a 5 second wav file. Irfanview serves me just right for that.
But I on't see any way to associate AUDIO files to XnView, though such files can definetely be played with XnView. I understand that Xn is mainly an IMAGE viewer but I'd like to keep it as a wav "viewer" too, since it loads almost as fast as Irfanview.
Is such a thing possible? How do I do that?

Thanks,
Second Shadow

You can set it manually from within windows. Open any windows folder, then click tools->folder options->file types->WAV->change and select xnview. If it's not in the list, just click browse/other and navigate to it.

Media Monkey is not a single player in the world
Try foobar2000 for example

Hello,
I have long been looking for a solution to play sound files when opening an image. (AcdSee, Zoner, Irfan . . .)
I just want sound files with the same name to be played when an image is opened and not to be displayed or managed.

My problem in XnView (1.7.1. 64bit):
I can see the sound files (tried hidden / visible) - I am only shown the black window for playback.
The WAV file of the same name says nothing, the PAUSE button is displayed, I can click what I want -> nothing happens.

It would be great if it would work.
What do I have to set ?

Thanks in advance, Gerald
