Using 1.82.3:

BUG: Creating new view tab [from browser] for animated .gif causes animation to stop playing in preview and "fullscreen from browser" for that file [when switched back to browser]. Users have to select different file to re-enable animation. Please fix. Thanks.

- Confirmed here too. In 1.80.3, the behaviour is buggy too, but the animation restarts when using the tab in View, while it doesn't in 1.82.3
