Halo.
Nice to join the xnview users group.
I changed to xnview from irfanview because of that's awful
user interface. I enjoy using xnview since several weeks.
But the real use starts just now as I preparing a CD with photos
from last holiday.
One problem I am encountering.
I want to short descript each photo by applying IPTC Caption.
This shall then be shown together with associated photo in the
full screen mode and in the slide show.
But all captions are written in polish, with the national characters.
XnView is converting these characters to normal ASCII characters
immediately after enter the caption in the IPTC field.
Is there any way to work it around ?
Thank you for any hint in advance.

I hope my example will correct decode in your browser
(please choose any central european character encoding ).
1. I enter words containing following characters ą ś ę ż ź ć ł and so on
in the IPTC dialog - the caption field
2. I accept my text pushing the write-button
3. The text is entered but the above characters was changed to adequatelly
a s e z z c l
4. Displaying the photos in any XnView mode (slideshow, full screen, ...)
together with IPTC caption line results in texts with latain characters only

Hi. I used your MSN messanger contact to post you an e-mail
consisting of three screen shots illustrating my problem.
Sorry that my previous description was ununderstandable.

are there any news dealing with the unicode-support for iptc and exif data
within xnview? to me it happened too that i realized all the programs like
adobe photoshop / adobe bridge or acdsee are working with bad implementations...
