cannot convert cpt file to jpeg

when I try to convert a cpt file to a jpeg in XnView, the program tells me that the format of the file cannot be determined.
the file does have a cpt extension. why can't I convert this file?

Perhaps your cpt file use a most recent format...

Is there any chance to fix this in future versions - cpt newer file format.
I have all cpt library of images and inside corel there is nothing to batch convert them.

Doesn't cpt stand for the Corel Photopaint format? For all I know, XnView can only display the embedded thumbnail of Corel Photopaint files, but not actually open or convert it. Please correct me, Pierre, if I am wrong.

No, i can only read old cpt format, i have no spec about the cpt format used in newer version
