I just downloated xnview for a trial and my initial reaction is positive. For example, I like being able to see the EXIF date with the thumbnails.

But I have been unable to sort or rename sorted by EXIF date (shooting date/time). This is helpful when shooting with two cameras and images from one needs some post-processing... which changes the file modified date. Now I want to sort them in the AS-SHOT order (camera clocks were set very close).

Suggestions? Perhaps renaming files using EXIF dates (although I don't know how), sorting, then renaming again in numeric form I finally want?

What version do you have? Try 1.82.4.

Then select files, press F2, Sort by > EXIF date and Insert>>...

Thank you! Things are easy if you know where to look... and where to look seems so obvious when someone points them out that it's almost embarrassing. <|=o)

It is just a little bit slow, but very much faster than doing it the hard way (manually)!!
