I can not "crop"

Just downloaded xnview. Seems like the crop funktion doesnt work mith my pics ? Anyone knows what the reason could be ?

- I've not any problem with the crop function here, it works perfectly, and - according to several users' statements in this forum- it's one in the best among all image-viewers …

I'm trying to crop jpg images created by my Kodak Digital. The little eye dropper doohicky appears whenever I open an image. Can't figure out how to get rid of it, either.
Perhaps the two problems are related??
Appreciate any help offered.

The eyedropper should not appear while viewing an image. In fact, I have never seen the eyedropper appear in xnview at all.
How do I remove the eyedropper? Crop?

Nonetheless, the eyedropper is my constant companion whenever I view an image.
Can anyone offer a solution
to this problem as well as my inability to crop?
