opening bmf files

I am trying to use XnView to open theme borders in corel gallery which are all bmf files. Copy and paste don't work in MSPublisher, Word or Corel Draw. If I save as JPEG or Tiff, I can open the border in Publisher, but the image is tiny and when expanded loses all detail so that it is u seless. Is there another route that I can use? I have XP Home and a good graphics card.
