XnView Software

What I'm trying to do:

I'd like to be able to double click on a video thumbnail in the XnView Browser and have it play in my associated program (Windows Media Player) and bypass the XnView Preview player.

To do this I went to Options>>Browser>>Items Displayed>>Video Files and I UNchecked the Show in Preview box, then clicked OK.

Now when I double click on a MPG or MPEG video file it opens my associated program immediately and plays the video without opening the XnView preview player.

But if I double click on a WMV video file XnView freezes for about 2 seconds then closes with no error messages.

If I go back and REcheck the Show in Preview box, then clicking on a WMV video file does not crash XnView but it opens the Xnview preview player and then my associated program.

Are there more options that I need to set to be able to accomplish this?

Hmmm, I do not have this bug but it sounds like file associations for WMV files are screwed up in the registry.
Try associating Windows Media Player 9 or 10 with WMV files and then try again.

It can't be that because Windows Media Player opens WMV files just fine from Windows Explorer.

And, like I wrote in my first message, XnView can open WMV files in Windows Media Player just fine when I check the Show in Preview box.

What I'm still trying to do is get XnView to let me open WMV files directly in Windows Media Player like it does MPG and MPEG files.

Yes only with WMV files.

Can you duplicate the problem doing what I have described?

The only program option I have changed is Options>>Browser>>Items Displayed>>Video Files and I UNchecked the Show in Preview box.

Are there any other options I need to change?

No such crash on Win XP Pro SP2 and XnView 1.82.4.

Hi Oliver and Pierre,

I have found an acceptable work around for the problem.

If I leave XnView Options>>Browser>>Items Displayed>>Video Files to default, I can triple click on any video file including WMV files and they will immediately open in my associated program (Windows Media Player).
