New program and file icons, suport for archives, plugins

I'm gonna skip telling you how great this program is. I'm only gonna say that I've removed ACDSee pro for good.

Sugestions:

Main program icon and file icons need to be replaced asap with higer quality, and simply, better looking ones. This is the time of customised skinned desktops, 32bit icons, and Icon replacement software (which, to make things worse, doesn't work with xnview. It can't replace file icons. as soon as xnview is started the icons revert to default).

The only thing I really miss from my days using acdsee is archive browsing. Many of us have some picutres compressed (usually not for compression itself, but for protection using a password). Having to decompress using other software is a real pain and takes forever.

One more thing to think about: the concept of plugins. making plugins available for the program that add features, but can be enabled/disabled at will. making the program as feature rich (and slow to run) as needed.

Thanks again for a great program.

Thanks, and why do you can't replace the default icon??

Yes i must add this feature

I'll add in a future version such plugin, and a dev kit for that...

The default program icon can easily be replaced, as can any program icon. I even tried to make a better looking program icon for you as I made quite a few icons, but the logo itself is quite "busy" and, for me at least, hard to make it look good (not that I don't like your program logo).
Someone will eventually make a cool, slick looking program icon for xnview anyway and will probably upload it to wincustomize.com or something.

The problem I was refering to are the file icons xnview assigns to files associated with it (jpg, bmp, gif, etc..). Using, say, IconPackager it is posslible to replace the file icons that your program assingns to files but only until the next time xnview is started. The icons then revert back to default. Actually, ACDsee has this same problem, but seeing as this is a much better (and did I mention, free) program, it could do without this "bug". Making new icons for all these files might take time, and I understand it may be hard to find people to do it, so maybe you could just make a "small" change in the code that prevents xnview from forcing it's default file icons.

EDIT: I managed to change the default icons after all. I apologize.

Also I found an icon set for xnview on deviantart.com:

And a nice main program icon (the deluxe one):
