Nice, but tiny : buttons in the strips…

Hi !
• In the browser, we have now buttons set in the separator-strips to show¦hide the tree and the preview areas; it's something I proposed, thanks !
- This works fine, but the buttons are really
tiny, hard to see and to catch.
- So, I guess that they might be enlarged a bit at width by 2…3 pixels, even if the strips are wider too.

Thanks for this new feature.
The 640*480 screen definition is no longer used nowadays by a lot of people. So, 2 pixels more at width would make indeed that new feature more comfortable, as well to spot it as to catch it with the mouse. And that shouldn't decrease the rest of the windows too much.

Hello Paul !
• Of course ! It should be something like below with 1024*768 :
—————
- It's already much more visible…
• There is no © ! Pierre could use this freely

Minimizing/maximizing on a double-click which works on the whole split bar (not just the handles) might bring even more comfort into this.
If double-click was supported, the question is whether we need visible handles at all. Probably only for those users who do not know about the double-click.

Well what do you know! I did not see those! Like 'em, though.
Those new splitter buttons do not display on my system for layouts 5, 6, 7 (in order from the top of the layout submenu).
Old but good…

Hello John !
Those new splitter buttons do not display on my system for layouts 5, 6, 7…
• Right, I can confirm that these buttons are missing for the layouts you quote.
-

? Lacuna ? Design ?
The original proposal was in
this old message… to you !

- Like I told in this message, this feature is still in my HTML editor. Originally, its author didn't draw a button on the splitter, he had set a 2-click action on the (almost) strip height.
- I ought admit that I didn't find how to close the tree, I had to email him to know ! Then, he drew buttons.
- This anecdote to explain that clicks must be
known by the users {whose the majority
never read the Help documents…

}
…Like 'em, though.
• Nice to hear, thanks !

I agree, but - why it's so colorful?
When hovering

Hello !
- The blue areas around and in the middle are not part of the buttons, it's only my current background.
- Red for "Close" and green for "Open" might come when hovering the buttons,
while currently, this is only the tiny arrow-point which is highlighted.
- The /// bars are on the original bitmap…
… and colours help to spot a small item.

Blue is OK, but green and red it's too much for me, what about just invert blue color?
Not always---

Hello !
• On idle state, the red and the green couldn't appear… We might have some kind of dark grey¦blue :
And like I said above, the Blue here was
my background !
- I removed it on both images, hoping it's clearer for you ?

I still think that double-click on any area of the split bar should minimize/maximize the appropriate area (as an additional way).
With a hint…

Hi !
• I'm not against, but I guess it needs an info-text when hovering the splitter with the mouse-cursor, something like :
————
- When we have this, it becomes really handy…

Good to hear that you are not against it. But I don't like having a tooltip for this since too many tooltips are disturbing. Yes, without tooltip it will be a sort of hidden feature, but people will find out.
