Thumbnails and images displayed upside down

I found a little glitch when NEF files (Nikon RAW format) are displayed. Portrait shots (vertical) are displayed upside down as the respective thumbnails. This happens whether "Rotate images based on EXIF orientation" is checked or not.

JPEG's saved as NEF are not thumbnailed. If you want a sample, I can send you one.

Thank you.
Carlos

Do you have tried without 'use embedded thumbnail'

Hello,

1)I was rotating my pictures (.JPEG or .JPG produced by my Nikon) yesterday from the browser.
I selected several thumbnails and click on rotate jpeg 90 degrees right.
Thumbnails were then displayed OK but the picture itself was rotated 180 degrees. I tried to reverse my operation to rotate 90 degrees left, thumbnails and pictures rotate 90 degrees left this time. I tried several times but I am not able to make the thumbnails match with the picture orientation. I can't understand why ...
There no cache activated.
I tried to close and restart XnView but discrepancy between thumbnails and pictures still exists.

2)By the way, when rotating the picture, is there any possibility to not update the date/time of the picture and keep the creation one?

Thanks in advance
Regards
DD

The problem is that XnView doesn't update embedded thumbnail!
Do you have disabled the option?

Yes, with THE JPEG lossless dialog

Ok, I will try these options tonite.

2 questions are still remaining for me :
1)concerning this rotation of 180 deg instead of 90 : I don't think it is something linked to the embedded thumbnail update ? Is it a bug or has a real link with this embedded thumbnail ?

2) thumbnail is just a "simplified" view of the picture, it is not contained in the picture itself. When I close XnView and re-open it, how can the thumbnail be different of the picture?

Sorry for these questions but I don't know anything about picture processing, thumbnail and other ...

I think the problem is XNVIEW related. The vertical thumbnails are shown upside down which probably means there is some kind of problem with the way NEF files are read.

I think a bug, could you send me a NEF sample?

No, thumbnail are stored in the file itself...

as I previously said, my problem was not met on NEF files (Nikon raw format) but on .jpg produced by my camera.
No, thumbnail are stored in the file itself...
Ok, I better understand now why closing and re-opening XnView doesn't solve the problem ...
So is there any way to rebuid a new thumbnail and update the file with it ?

I'll add such feature in next release...
