I want to run XnView from USB Stick. Is this possible ?
Or does XnView write during Installation some DLLs into the
Win system directories or need some Registry values ?

Where are the settings stored?
In the Registry or ina *.ini file in the installation directory?

If you use .ini, xnview doesn't use registry, and installation don't write dll in system folder

Ok, I finally found the check box in Options->Install section

I checked the entry "Use Windows folder to save INI file"
and closed XnView.

However I did not found an inifile "xnview.ini" or similar in my installation folder D:\pictures\xnview\ (or one of the sub folders).

Where is this ini file ?

The default settings in Options>Install are:
- Use Windows folder to save INI file: unchecked
- Use registry to save options: unchecked
With those settings, the xnview.ini file should be in your XnView installation folder.
(you can also create an empty xnview.ini file or put an existing one in the same directory as your xnview.exe)

Check those FAQ: Minimal installation and Technical info about XnView's settings (store & load).
