Reqst: Loupe

Post by JohnFredC »

Some form of instantaneous loupe would be very helpful.

Ideally I would want the following behavior.

1. Click a mouse button and hold it down, loupe appears at the mouse cursor position.

2. Move the mouse to move the loupe.

3. Scroll with the middle mouse button to increment/decrement the magnification of the loupe.

4. Release the mouse button to hide the loupe.

5. An options setting to toggle "high quality" magnification for the loupe would be great. In that way we could leave the "high quality" setting OFF for the entire image, but examine portions of the image with the loupe at high quality.

This behavior would be really excellent if implemented in conjunction with a new "buttonless" "proportional scrolling" mode I have requested previously:

1. Enter "proportional scaling" mode
2. Move mouse to scroll image
3. Hold down mouse button to display loop

No middle-button…

:) Hello John !

• Indeed a magnifying glass should be very useful in many cases, I support that wish !

• However, the MMB is not often free, for instance here it's assigned by the mouse soft to "gesture-scrolls" with the "cross" cursor (bistable state) and I don't wish to change this…
- So, I guess that other kinds of commands are to find out too…

I think John meant:

Left mouse button here (but it could be customizable IMO):
"1. Click a mouse button and hold it down, loupe appears at the mouse cursor position."

And only mouse wheel here, not a middle button:
"3. Scroll with the middle mouse button to increment/decrement the magnification of the loupe."

Right John?
