problem with video still captures

Hi - I've perused the newsgroups for answers, but no luck so I'm posting fresh...
Videos play perfectly well with Xnview, but attempts to capture stills result in a black, blank box - tho the movie controls are visible.
This has worked before until I had to reinstall video drivers (ati 9200) and then poof.
I've also updated to newest Xnview.
DX is also reinstalled.
There are no other problems with graphics that I can see.
I'm sure this isn't an issue with XNview but some help would be appreciated - anyone had the same problem??
thanks

Currently, video capture is not possible.

For video capture, you need to use VRM7/VRM9 video renderer instead overlay mixer, if media player clasic opensource player has that if you need to capture a frame

Yes, it works great with VMR9
Thanks Aokromes
I tested with MV2 Player (great player

) and ProgDVB - DVB satellite player
Win XP Pro SP1, DX9

Hi again -
What I'm really after is a clue as to why I'm unable to take a snapshot of existing mpg videos on HDD with XnView whilst performing same on AVI's is fine. This is simply for catalogue purposes where the start frame is not representative of the whole clip to make cross-referencing easier to deal with......!

discovery - I've had LIGOS' player installed, inserts a MPEG2 layer somewhere and loads as part of M$ player....uninstalled and all is perfect.
This may be of use to you - I'll swap this info for that Divx filter...
