after using the program to alter a large number of pictures, i'm not allowed to close the program. it keeps a loooooooooooooooong list of pictures under the window drop-down menu. they are often pictures i have changed (and saved with changes) but without showing the changes. with each one, i must assure the program that i do or don't want to save the file. if i say yes, but if the folder name has changed (as is often the case), i get an error message.

I generally have to use task manager to close the program if i don't want to spend the rest of the day trying to convince the program that i want to close it.

how do i convince the program that i want it to close.

otherwise, it's a great program, at least with a good macro program. infinitely more stable and useful than acdsee

one other thing - in this window, the cursor repeatedly bounces back to the top and enters a "z" and a carriage return

Perhaps set option "Only one view opened"?

Must be something in the way you work. If you modify a file, typically you don't want a program to simply throw away your changes without asking.

What you could do is exit XnView using "File->Quit", and then simply press the key "N" for confirming the "Do you want to save" message box. You can even keep the "N" pressed for multiple confirmations.
