Crash when new file appears in directory

Post by slarti76 »

Hello!

I'm using the latest XnViewMP (0.68). Whenever I'm calling another program (Hugin) from within XnViewMP which writes new files into the directory currently shown in the browser, XnViewMP crashes. As workaround, I change the directory before I start the stitching in Hugin, but that's quite annoying, of course, especially as I have to find the last position again.

In a related matter, XnViewMP doesn't seem to correctly insert the new picture. After switching back to the directory with the new file, I see it in the thumbnail view and can open it. But if I open any other picture (usually the one before or after), and change pictures with "Previous" and "Next", the new picture is omitted. I need to open it once directly, only after that it is correctly inserted.

Thank you for having a look at this!

It doesn't matter what is currently displayed in XnViewMP, only what directory is selected in the browser window (whether displayed or not). Is there perhaps some Log files I could send you?

Sorry, perhaps "crash" is the wrong word - XnViewMP just exits. Windows 7 obviously doesn't regard it as crash, so no dialog. It's just gone. If there's any directory where I can look for logs, I'll gladly send them to you.

The dump files (aka. crash logs) are on Windows in the user's temp directory.

Assuming that your Windows drive is C: and your user name is 'foo' then the directory would be:

C:\Users\foo\AppData\Local\Temp

Go there and you'll see some files like this:

c1a8215b-31b8-4b89-af43-b2687e3bc03b.dmp (a big "code" (ok, hash) in front and the .dmp extension)

take all these files, zip them and send them to Pierre.

Thank you very much, I just did that. Hope it helps...

Great, Pierre sent me a beta of the next version and it doesn't happen there. All fine... :)
Thx, Pierre!
