As the title states, I recently have been looking for replacements for the default photo viewer and stumbled upon XnView. I'm not looking to use XnView as a photo editor, I have PS for that. Windows stopped supporting .gifs after XP using the default photo viewer that comes with the computer, and I'm looking for a modern replacement for that. A photoviewer that is very similar to it, but with gif support as well as regular image support (.png, .jpg, etc.).
Features I'm mainly looking for:
Zoom with mouse (XnView has this, most other programs didn't)
Moving to the previous or the next image with arrow keys by the current order of files ?
[i.e. InfraView didn't go off window's setting, but rather it's own]
Is it possible to use XnView like so? Are there certain settings I need to apply?

Not sure about the current order of files, but you can test that...

Yes, this is what I was looking for! I did not notice the next file part, I should be more wary next time, ahah.cday wrote: Is this Tools > Options... setting what you are looking for?

Order seems to be by alphanumeric, don't see any way to change that. The files also don't loop back to the beginning or the end. Oh well.

I'm not sure whether the alphanumeric display order can be changed, someone else may know

There's Name and Name (numeric) in View » Sort By.cday wrote:I'm not sure whether the alphanumeric display order can be changed, someone else may know
In addition to that, you can change the behavior by editing xnview.ini:

- When disabled, XnView will use the same sort order as Explorer on Windows XP and later: File names are sorted based on numerical value (3 < 22 < 111).
When enabled, XnView will use the same sort order as Explorer on Windows 2000 and earlier: File names are sorted literally (111 < 22 < 3).
Value: Boolean (1/0), disabled by default
