Hello.
I've been using ACDSee for almost 18 years now. And although I liked that program a lot in the nineties, I'm hating it now.
The main reason why I'm still using it is that all my picture collection is organized using their categories and ratings system. And it's a really big collection, so there's absolutely no way I'm going through the process of sorting all my images again.
I would like to keep the categories I had in ACDSee and use them in XnView MP.
I've embedded ACDSee database information in the images themselves and exiftool seems to be able to read this data, which gives me some hope. Ratings are automatically imported, nice ! But all images still appear uncategorized, which is not surprizing.
Here is one example of ACDSee metadata embedded in one file as XMP as seen by exiftool:
categories <Categories><Category Assigned="0">Albums<Category Assigned="1">exemple</Category></Category><Category Assigned="0">Hop<Category Assigned="1">Nikon F3</Category></Category></Categories>
So I'm wondering if there is a simple way to convert those XMP tags from ACDSee Categories into something that XnView can understand. Especially, if someone followed the same migration path (from ACDSee to Xnview) and wants to share her/his experience I would be really grateful ! Thank you.
Migration from ACDSee to XnView.
