0.72 - <EXIF:Date Taken> isn't

Post by dietmar »

Pierre,

there's a small problem with the <EXIF:Date Taken> display tag. It becomes visible when you adjust the date taken over the original date.

0.72 correctly uses the date taken both in the adjust date/time dialog as well as in batch rename.

0.72 does not display the date taken neither in the thumbnail description nor in the thumbnail tooltip if you include <EXIF:Date Taken>, though. Instead you're displaying the EXIF creation date which is not the adjusted date taken.

A side note to the creator of the German translation: The third and fourth items on the properties pane both read "Änderungsdatum/-uhrzeit", even though they're not the same.

Pierre, this is what I see. I'm using German language dialogs, but you'll see what I mean.

I start with an image taken yesterday having these EXIF properties:

Image

Next I change the Date Taken using the date adjustment dialog:

Image

I change the date taken to tomorrow, 18:00 which is then represented in the EXIF properties as expected.

Image

The same date is used during batch rename when you select {EXIF:Date Taken} as the source for the rename date. Again all this is correct and as expected:

Image

Thus our image now has a Date Taken of tomorrow, 18:00 and a corresponding filename.

Now let's look at the thumbnail description. This is how my settings are:

Image

You see that the fourth line is to display {EXIF:Date Taken}. It doesn't as you can see here:

Image

I have not checked which of the EXIF dates you display, but it's not the one referred to as Date Taken before.

The same happens with the thumbnail tooltip. This is my setting:

Image

And this is the result:

Image

I hope this series of images explains what I mean.

Thank you for your hint to the wrong German translation, Dietmar. Though, I couldn't find the double German translation. Could you please check topic "** Deutsch - German"?
