PTLens plugin results in grayscale image

Post by dougw »

The PTLens plugin, which corrects for lens distortion, incorrectly results in a grayscale image. Latest versions of XNView (1.80.1) and PTLens (6.2.1) were used on Windows XP.

Any progress on this? Still happens with latest XnView 1.82.4. Unfortunately, the latest version of PTLens is a trial version with a $10 price to unlock, so I haven't tried it (still have the free version installed).

Post by guest343 »

Are there any other plugins that work with xnview and can correct barrel distortion?

  • Panorama Tools
  • Photo-Plugins: Lens Correction
This plugin corrects barrel and pincushion distortions that many zoom camera lenses produce.
  • Richard Rosenman
    • Lens Distortion Corrector
This filter produces texture map correction for spherical texture mapping.
    • Lens Corrector Pro
Lens Corrector PRO is a Photoshop (or compatible) plugin/filter targeted towards professionals (although equally useful for hobbyists) for correcting camera lens distortion.
  • Florian Xhumari: Flo's UnDistort filter
Flo's UnDistort is a plugin for correcting deformations of photographic images:
    • Barrel and pincushion deformations
    • Perspective deformations (keystone effect)
    • Chromatic aberrations (also known as “color fringing”)
  • MediaChance: Digital Camera Essential Tools » Lens Distortion Correction
A typical digital camera lenses suffer from Barrel distortion (wide lens) or Pincushion distortion (when zoomed).
With the Lens Distortion correction plug-in you can fix both of these types of distortion. The result is rendered using high quality Bi-cubic interpolation.
  • Power Retouche: Lens Corrector Pro
Now you can correct camera lens distortions (like pincushion, panorama and barreling) inside Photoshop or other photo software. This easy to use and highly flexible camera lens correction tool handles both symmetric and irregular distortions.

When taking photos of high buidling, your image will have a perpective distortion. For correcting you can use graphic programs like FixFoto. The free software ShiftN can do it automatically.

PTLens 8.4.12 seems to work correctly with XnView 1.91.2

Correctly extracts exif camera details and applies to image.

Chromatic aberration seems to work.
