Search "IPTC All Words" only in one field

Post by negg »

The search seems to be buggy when trying to search for "All Words" in IPTC-Tags. It seems to find only images that have all words in one specific field, not those where the words are spread over several fields. Example:

Keywords: Foo, Fuu
Category: This, That

Image is found by searches:
"Foo Fuu"
"This That"

Image is not found by searches:
"Foo That"
"Fuu This"
...

So the image is only found when the two words are both in Keywords, or in Category, but not when one is in Keywords and one in Category! Anyone confirming this?

Right, it looks for all words in any single field (not total fields). What is better?

IMO it would be the best if it would not matter in which field each of the words is found. With the current behaviour the search is rather useless for me. I indexed my images with keywords (specifying the content) and categories (specifying things like "portrait", "public", etc.).

Now I can't find an image that contains e.g. "cats" and is "public", or where you can see "Maria" in a "portrait".

I'd propose that "search all fields" works that way. If someone thinks there is a need for an option like "search for all words in one field, but search all fields" maybe Pierre can think of a good solution where to put it.
