Acquire from scanner (WIA)

Post by Enmoku »

(Couldn't find exactly this problem mentioned, so...)

It seems that using this menu option (Acquire from Camera or Scanner (WIA)...) causes the scans to be placed in a sub-folder with the date but the file name is always Top.BMP.

"Acquire..." doesn't have such an issue, and "Acquire into..." either except that it requires the user to find a start index that isn't in use.

Still, in all cases it would be best to default to Unix timestamp or similar. You could accomplish this simply by merging "acquire into" and "acquire camera or scanner" into single function with the file naming stuff with radio button choices (the current index thing from "acquire into" and add the timestamping - and set timestamping as the default), the Top.BMP is never useful compared to these two. The third option didn't seem to scan to any file, so it might as well remain, or become third radio button option in that scan dialog.

If not, then at least allow the user to offer another name for the file so he/she isn't limited to just overwrite and cancel, didn't test if the auto-index has the same problem, but I'm sure you can make sure it doesn't when this is fixed :)

(also... why .BMP?)
