Default colour profile

Postby uryan » Wed Sep 03, 2008 8:18 am

Could there be an option to treat images without an emedded ICC profile as sRGB? Right now tagged images are displaying beautifully, but untagged images are horribly over-saturated on my system.

I should clarify what I mean. I have a wide gamut monitor and, with default settings, most pictures appear over-saturated. I have enabled 'Use ICC Embedded Profile' and selected my monitors profile. This fixes up images with an embedded ICC profile so they display correctly. But images without an embedded ICC profile aren't colour-managed so they still appear over-saturated.

My request is for an option to treat images without an embedded ICC profile as if they had the sRGB profile embedded so they are colour-managed and are converted from sRGB to the selected monitor profile.

There is a topic in French that deals with that issue and others.

Summary of my proposal: there should be an option to select the profile to apply for images without embedded profile => sRGB / AdobeRGB / Other profile / Do nothing

Most compact digicams use sRGB, DSLRs tend to use AdobeRGB and some users might want to use a calibrated/specific profile for their camera.
