I'm a little disappointed when, on downloading and running a Linux build of XnViewMP, I see how many menu items are greyed out or missing, full-stop, when compared to the Windows-native version.
I'm also embarrassed that I may be guilty of contradicting myself with this suggestion, but here goes, anyway:
I think Pierre should move forward with MP only, until it's "caught up". In other words...
1.) Postpone any tweaks or fixes to the native Windows versions until the two match, feature for feature and function for function. Or...
2.) Select a Windows native version of recent vintage (1.96.0 perhaps) and use that as a "goal state" for the features and functions in MP.
The alternative, as I see it, is that those of us who can get MP to run (in Linux and Mac, particularly) will be waiting much longer for a "parity of features" between the two, and likely -- at some point in time -- will start looking for another equally feature-rich graphics app.
Anyone with me on this?

I pretty agree about this point of view, I 'm also thinking than the priority number one is (and should mostly be): the development of the MPs versions until almost all based standard 1.9X features will be implemented.
PS: An other alternative is also to use Wine under Linux with XnView 1.9X (or similar tools) in the meantime.

I've considered Wine for different things. Just my poor luck the boot disk in my Linux laptop just doesn't have the space for "it" and any apps or utilities I'd want to install to use in "it".oops66 wrote:PS: An other alternative is also to use Wine under Linux with XnView 1.9X (or similar tools) in the meantime.

I agree (but I'm not the guy working ): I do prefer using XnMP as it's more efficient in multiple ways. Too bad I have to go back to classic XNView for basic thinks (like deleting images and not to have to look after where I was).

Re: Suggestions re present & future development of MP
I am with you on this guys. For me would be great not only having the features of original XnView, but also the same user control. For example, having the select tool (which is able able to crop natively) as default instead of the zoom tool as it is now in XnViewMP.
Re: Suggestions re present & future development of MP
The crop tool is corrected in 0.38 beta. There are options to define what to do with selection !
