XnView 1.90 Video Issues!

Post by ckit »

1. If your videos are too dark in the Preview pane and look ok in View mode, you need to upgrade to nVidia 93.71 drivers (91.47 drivers have this problem)

2. If you are using FFDShow you will need to disable the Preview pane for videos as XnView does not release FFDShow filters when switching to View mode and therefore you wind up with 2 lots of FFDShow Video\ FFDShow Audio in the system tray. Not long after XnView will crash!

I'll post other issues here with workarounds.

Using the latest, I can partially confirm. Enabling the tray icon, I get a new instance for each view window + one for browser. That's it, however, and each is cleaned up when their window is closed (or in the browser, when changing). It can get very messy without single-instance enabled in ffdshow though, 20 icons in the system tray....

It may only happen with newer versions of ffdshow, I haven't tested back.

Probably not necessary if your 'Desktop' / 'Overlay' settings are different (in my situation, 'Desktop' = default not to interfere in any way with my hardware calibrated display, while 'Overlay' has a more pleasing look for watching video).
