XnView Lister Plugin?

Post by Dreamer »

What about XnView Lister Plugin? I know at least two freeware file managers that support lister plugins (FreeCommander, Unreal Commander), so it would be available for everyone, not just for TC users.

I know there are many image plugins, but I miss some basic xnview features - I am sure the xnview lister plugin would be the best. :)

Pierre, I know you're busy, but please let me know if you like this idea, I need to know if you want to create such a plugin in the future, if not, I'd contact the autor(s) of some existing lister plugins...

Thanks.

Can you point to one that does everything you need (and not too much more, hopefully)? I'm not sure if the plugin SDK is still up to date, but a 3rd party should also be able to make one.

:) Hello !

• The F.Ms. you quote use the plug-ins of Total Commander, I guess…

- In that programme - despite that a XnView plug-in has been suggested because it could be “light” -
there is another way to work with XnView in Lister, like you can see HERE
- This exists for years, and I acted to get that partnership (because I swore to never use Irf***** even one more time !)

Yes, perhaps. But is it a need for users of TC? :-)

Clo - thanks, but FreeCommander supports only lister plugins (for now), I use FC, not TC.

Pierre - thanks for the reply! As I said, it would be useful not just for TC users, but also for the users of freeware file managers now.

Perhaps you could add also some connection with the main XnView program - shortcut to open the image in XnView, similar to Shell Extension.

I tried many other lister plugins, they have lot of advanced features (I don't need), but I miss few basic features (from XnView). I don't need all those advanced feature, just few basic features and mainly navigation features, customizable keyboard and mouse shortcuts (just few).

It would be very useful for me (lots more than Shell extension ;-) ), but you have to decide if you want to do it, how complicated and time-consuming it would be for you...

Edit: It could be used also for "quick view" - inside the file manager, not just for internal viewer (F3).

- Using XnView in the same way than in TC is better,
and doesn't need a huge effort from the author of your FM to be added, I guess.
- Moreover, the Pierre's part should be limited (if existing) in such a partnership…

performance and memory consumption should be better when having xnview as lister-plugin!

would be great!
