Hi XnView Team,
Preface
After grabbing the new v1.94.2 of my beloved XnView I see this mysterous bug still exists, I reported for a while.
Time to add a few more infos here now, maybe this will help to understand and is better demonstrative.
Possible bug location
Viewer Mode - export plugin (Ctr+Alt+S). It happens combinied with color modes for Tiff.
Other file types are not affected, because they doesn't have this double dropdown.
Test procedure
First go to Viewer Mode and pick up an example pic, mine has counted 131237 colors,
so it may good enough for a compression mode >256 col. We want to export it with the export plugin,
because this gives a better control about the final filesize, compared to the simple save mode.
If you are not already on the Tiff tab, please switch now! (screenshot 1)

Watch the dropdowns (compression modes): the upper one is active, the other one below deactivated.
Lets jump through the color modes, maybe an downsampled result can also be visual acceptable.
But no, we want to stay with 16bit, to preserve the photo quality. So set once again 16m.
Do you remember how the dropdowns were a few lines back? Its now the total opposite (Screenshot 2)
http://img172.imageshack.us/img172/9180 ... ge2pw7.png,
but nothing was touched in the picture or real edited, neighter colors, so how works this export assistant really
and why is it impossible to look through the modes, that it is suddenly locked after viewing?
Or could this be a solution to merge the twin sets just into one dropdown? (Maybe like in old days)
Analysis
It looks like the practicability of these mode settings are prefiltered by an unknown reason.
If the downsampler is always active in the background, can't this be only optional.
So all modes (from the specs) can be possible. Btw, you can test this on any pic.
LZW+Predictor was just an example by myself, because in some cases its the top notch algo.
You know, the most pictures are big enough, so its a pleasure to use my favorite lossless compression,
because photoshop or whatever gives you not such an technical support (not implemented),
but can read and load them in the same way.
I hope so the CCITT modes and LZW+Predictor can be used with all kind of pictures, when they are needed.
thx in advance,
RGBA
