I think it would be better to display the term "items", not "objects". This would match the "Are you sure you want to delete these ### items" dialog.
Yes, but we should distinguish the files and folders and we can't use a definition "file able to contain others" for a folder - it would be too long and also confusing for users, but it's not so important, BTW what about [..] item, this is not a file??

It has been changed already, "X file(s) selected" is now "X object(s) selected", so it has to be changed everywhere, but I don't know what is better...
• Technically, “object” is correct in computing… But I would not object to the use of “Item” which is neuter.
- In French, that doesn't pose any problem, both are understood easily (objet vs. élément)…
