The current Search paradigm (pop-up dialogs) works great, but IMO is too modal in design and could be improved.
An additional "Search" panel for the browser would be preferable to the dialog.
The Search panel could interact in real time with the file list/thumbs panel in a manner similar to the way the folder tree, categories, and favorites panels do now.

Hmm.. but it may cause more problems, other panes might be resized, I'm not sure about it...

Re: MP: Search dialog should be browser sidebar
My MP folder tree, categories, and favorites are in a tabbed panel. Adding another panel for search (or several panels for other purposes) would have absolutely no effect on screen real estate:

OK, but only as option. Some users don't use tree at all.

Of course!!!!Dreamer wrote:OK, but only as option.

Another reason is that some users have very small tree panel - but as option it would be fine.

Yes perhaps. I've seen that in some other software. But pane is not very wide, so it's difficult to put all Search UI.JohnFredC wrote:My MP folder tree, categories, and favorites are in a tabbed panel.
