Printing: Changing printer settings
I'm using XnViewMP under linux and I tried out the print function. This function, as currently implemented, appears to be completely useless because there's no way to change the printer settings to indicate photo paper, photo resolution, etc. Have I overlooked something? In most programs I get a CUPS dialog which provides lots of options to control these things.

In the Windows version those settings are rather hidden and only appear when you click on Print, not very intuitive or consistent with normal printer interfaces, I think...adrian wrote:I'm using XnViewMP under linux and I tried out the print function. Yes, very inconsistent and very different to XnView Classic. A "Printer" tab with printer selection and printer settings should be added in XnView MP.cday wrote:.. not very intuitive or consistent with normal printer interfaces, I think...

Re: printing: changing printer settings
If I select "print" then the only options I see are "page setup" at the bottom, which only allows setting paper size, margin, and orientation. At the top I have "layout", "caption", "header/footer" and "options". The only "option" is "multi-page files".
If I continue and select "print" again then I have properties, which only allows me to change the paper size, layout, and set banner pages and billing information (!). Then there is "options" which allows me to change the page range, number of copies, and dupliex mode.
So there's never any option to select print quality or paper type, which means that it's impossible to print photos from XnView MP. I guess maybe I could change the printer defaults, but that's potentially dangerous as I might forget to set it back and hence end up accidentally printing a bunch of stuff as "photo quality on glossy paper"

Re: Printing: Changing printer settings
I'm using Ubuntu 16.10 and yes, my distro uses cups. But XnView MP doesn't give access to the same cups menu that I get in other apps, which does let me select things like print quality and paper type.

Re: Printing: Changing printer settings
I took screenshots of xnview and comparison screenshots of firefox. Another strange thing I'm not sure I mentioned is that it is printing in black and white.
