Hello!
I added comment to JPEG file with Edit->Edit comment and then saved file, replacing the existing one. Now in browser thumbnail is not properly rotated and there is no overlay rotation info icon. However in preview and View, image is properly rotated.

Seems to be a problem with embedded thumbnail, could you send the file (and original one?)?Xyzzy wrote:I added comment to JPEG file with Edit->Edit comment and then saved file, replacing the existing one. PS: Could you contact me about polish translation
Pierre.

Go to
http://www.dpreview.com/gallery/?galler ... 0_samples/
and download any portrait full-size picture.
Link to full-size image is in the table below image, in Original row (click file name to download).
As for translation, I replied to your PM.

I've understood the problem. You load the jpeg file (lanscape), the orientation is fixed (there is a EXIF orientation tag). You save it now the jpeg file. Now you save it in portrait orientation. But the thumbnail is not changed and the orientation EXIF tag is cleared!!! So how fix this problem??xnview wrote:Ok, very strange...Xyzzy wrote:Go to

Picture must be rotated again in original orientation before saving it??
Or remove always the embedded thumbnail??

I've just quickly read your above posts and think that this is very much related to topic "Rotation for embedded thumbnail". I think the solution really is recreating the embedded thumbnail.

Yes, but rebuild thumbnail is currently a problem for me!helmut wrote:I've just quickly read your above posts and think that this is very much related to topic "Rotation for embedded thumbnail". I think the solution really is recreating the embedded thumbnail.
So removing it seems to be the best???

I'd opt for saving image as landscape and leaving thumbnail and EXIF orientation tag untouched.xnview wrote:I've understood the problem. You load the jpeg file Picture must be rotated again in original orientation before saving it??

Such way you really change what you wanted to change, ie Comment. When adding comment is lossless operation, such behaviour is what an user would expect- only thing changed is Comment.
