Category command improvement request [fixed]
Hello,
Category command (browser mode, in the tool bar or right-click on a thumbnail) is a convenient tool that allows to quickly assign a category to an image, but is somewhat frustrating : only categories without children can be assigned.
This command should allow to assign every category existing in the dictionary/catalogue.
Perhaps am I missing something obvious...
Thank you for listening
XnviewMP 0.99.1 x64

Re: Category command improvement request
you means that if you add a category, categories's children are associated too?

Hello,
No, I mean that if a category has children it can't be assigned by this way. Only terminal categories can
eg :
Categories Oak and fern will work not Plant

Re: Category command improvement request
Ok, right it's an issue with category's menu. But 'Category sets' is not better?

Hello,
I totally agree that 'Category sets' is better. It is very useful, practical and well designed.
But alternatives are present and when using them it is a bit frustrating to stumble over some annoying limitations making them not fully usable

Re: Category command improvement request
Hello,
OK. As already said 'category sets' is very useful and well designed.
Nevertheless, a suggestion if feasible : as interface of Category command doesn't allow to assign parent with menu because parent is not at the end of the "path", why not add an item "Parent category : [name of parent category] on the top of the child categories list in the menu ?
eg :

Re: Category command improvement request
Yes, the limitation is frustrating.
I had to create a first sub category in each category that I need to let "alone" sometimes...
And your suggestion should take into account that categories can have grandchildren , but it seems to be a good idea.

Hello,
No problem with grandchildren or more :
This way all categories can be at one end of the "command path" and clickable.
Thank you for listening
