Support for Windows color schemes
If I change color of my Windows98 menu fonts to white I can not see items in open or browse button drop down list of XnView. Both fonts and background are white. There should be a way change that background color or it should take a color of Windows application background or something.
Re: Support for Win color schemes
There's a setting "Background colour" in the option dialog (menu "Tools->Options"), category "Browser->Thumbnail" for setting the background colour of the thumbnail area, but I think that this will not solve your problem.joximus wrote:... Think you are using a colour combination/scheme which does not make sense:
I've just tried myself (Windows XP) and set the text colour to 'white'. In any drop down list (XnView and MS Explorer), I couldn't see any entries. I had to change the colour of 'Window' to grey, then it was o.k.. Please check whether this is your problem.

I fear that we don't have same font's on our mind. In Display properties -> Appearance in Item drop down list chose 'Menu'. Color of Menu should be non white (gray in default settings). Here you can also set color of Menu fonts. Set it to white. Click OK. Now go to XnView and check drop down list I was talking about.helmut wrote:There's a setting "Background colour" in the option dialog (menu "Tools->Options"), category "Browser->Thumbnail" for setting the background colour of the thumbnail area, but I think that this will not solve your problem.

Re: Support for Win color schemes
Thanks for your more detailed description. After reading your description carefully and using Windows 98 I could reproduce your problem:joximus wrote:... In Base mode of XnView (No browser and no images opened), there's the symbols "Browse" and "Open" in the toolbar. Both symbols have a drop downlist. The background of this dropdownlist is always white, regardless of the setting in Windows. Now, when changing the text colour of Menu text to 'White', the text in the dropdown lists will become invisible. So the bug is, that these two dropdownlists do not use the Windows setting.

Note:
There's another dropdownlist in browser mode, which works properly: It's the 'View as' symbol which is used to set the way the files are displayed (Details, Thumbnails, List).
Problem still exists in 1.90.2.
However, if you put the focus on an item in the list and if you have a dark color for your Windows color scheme, selected items, item color (which makes sense if you use a light text on a dark background color scheme), you can reasonably find an item in the history lists.
