Absolutely, that's what I so desperately tried in various ways.
But please let me say that I'm very thankful once you got my problem, you show interest in it, instead of dismissing it.
You see, I was afraid I could not trigger any interest into it since the posts demanding one instance of XnView ...

Re: New Feature / Info Request
Thank you very much for answering.
I see two solutions:
- Not realizing the "allow for just instance only" by looking out for an identically named component element, but by ini / Windows registry entries. Then, when 1 "instance" ist renamed in fact to "another program", as in "xn1.exe" and "xn2 ...

Re: New Feature / Info Request
In XnView, there is the option "only one instance yes / no". I would like to have TWO instances of XnView, in order to view TWO different sets of thumbs / 2 previews at the same time. So I can set the option "only one instance" to NO = multiple instances, and then I can manually load XnView two ...

Re: New Feature / Info Request
Pierre,
Have my big thanks for taking interest in this matter. Unfortunately, your concise help doesn't help me yet. I did this:
1 )
- I did just copying and renaming of xnview, thus c:\xn\xn1.exe and dito xn2.exe there. I followed your advice to specify the ini file, thus I did
- - c:\programs ...

New Feature / Info Request (Two Instances of XnView)
Would it be possible to just answer my question if this would be considered or not? - 150 users regarding the thread in 2 days, so there must be some interest in such a feature that technically would perhaps even be possible without any programming, just more info about how XV ini files, etc. work ...

Two Instances of XnView
As indicated in the other post, I would like to open files / folders in two instances of XnView concurrently, by command line commands. As indicated, up to now XnView only allows for two options, only 1 instance yes or no. As indicated, every opening of a file / folder in XnView, by command line ...

Re: Prev/Prop/Hist/Cat Tabs; "View as Thumbnails"
Hi John Fred C,
I
Many thanks! Again, how dumb of me! As said, I had even tried out xnview.exe path\*.jpg, but I overlooked the variant to just load xnview.exe path\folder, without specifying any further file(s), and indeed, now XnView starts in browser mode and displays all thumbs of the given ...

Command Line Opening of File in Browser Mode
Pierre,
I would so much prefer XnView to any competing program, and I'm willing to buy, not just using for free, but 3 competing programs have a feature that seems to lack in XnView, at least, an expert user as John Fred C did not see any way to realize what I need, and nobody else, out of some 130 ...

Re: Prev/Prop/Hist/Cat Tabs; "View as Thumbnails"
Hi John Fred C,
Nice screenshot, really beautiful, it's just what I like!
But, isn't there any way to do it? See, I do not need to "open a folder", in a way that XnView automatically opens the first file in the folder, or something like that, I'm perfectly willing to select one of the files in the ...

Re: Prev/Prop/Hist/Cat Tabs; "View as Thumbnails"
(edited just for exterminating some of my spelling errors and make my text more precise:)
Hi John Fred C,
My gosh, that's what I call a cluttered screen ! ;-)

Re: Prev/Prop/Hist/Cat Tabs; "View as Thumbnails"
Sorry, John Fred C, I'm a complete dummy, your only error in your 1-description was that you wrote "TreePane", but the same command is available for "PreviewPane", so it works like wonderful: Tremendous, and very kind and useful help. Many thanks again, and XnView is really best of 'em!

Re: Prev/Prop/Hist/Cat Tabs; "View as Thumbnails"
Hello JohnFredC,
Thank you very very much for your kind help! And yes, I'm speaking of 1.97.8, "1978"...
In fact, I just didn't find / overlooked the options in 2 and 3, and your hints work perfectly!
As to number 1, it's you who's mistaken at this point, I'm afraid to say, of course I hide the ...

Prev/Prop/Hist/Cat Tabs; "View as Thumbnails"
Hi,
1 )
I just downloaded the newest version of XnView and tried to do the settings / options the way I would like it. I did not succeed in hiding the Preview / Properties / Histogram / Categories tabs, wanting just the preview pane, no need for "Properties", "Histogram", "Categories", and hence ...
