Re: How does the database work in XnView MP?

Ok, there is a bug
You can exclude c:\picture and want to include c:\picture\tmp Ah, that makes sense! If i understand correctly these two pages in the preferences are both related to handling of thumbnails rather than database. Wouldn't it be better to rename the preferences page to "Cache ...

Re: Small improvements to the UI/Tab container

This new UI paradigm (menu below tab) appeals to logic, IMO. It is also consistent with the UI design much of the new software be written today (q.v. Chrome par example). When Pierre implements "tear-off" image tabs in MP, the menu below the tab implementation will be mandatory...

[Request] Storing searches in tree pane: smart albums

The search window from main menu -> tools is a powerful tool which even allows to store presets. Nevertheless, imo it would be an amazing feature to store the searches in a fourth tab in tree pane: albums. The advantages are obvious: quick access and organization in a tree view with subfolders.

In ...

Re: Date and other infos inside the pictures dissapeared

(Sorry for not answering a long time)

I think i tested Picasa extensively: f.e. the collage feature and so on. But i can't remember to have saved an edit of a picture. To be fair: as long as Picasa is not known for doing such weird things i want claim that program just because i used it for some ...

Re: How does the database work in XnView MP?

I am not sure if i have understood you, Pierre. When i put a folder in the exclude list i have following: the entry dissappears from the "cached directory" and from database list but appears again when i browse the same folder again in folder pane. Somehow i cannot follow the concept or purpose of ...

How does the database work in XnView MP?

I hope that some of the more experienced users will help me to understand how the database works. Here is a summary of what i know or believe to know, so please correct me if i am wrong:

When i open in browser mode some images from folder pane then i receive an image list. These images are scanned ...

Re: Date and other infos inside the pictures dissapeared

No, i didn't! They are the same JPG-files i copied from camera to the disc. I can't say what the tools, i've tested so far, did with these pictures. The damage is minimal because i have a backup but nevertheless i would avoid that for the future. I looked into more details of these images and there ...

Date and other infos inside the pictures dissapeared

I noticed that in many of my pictures some important information inse exif tags have dissapeared - mainly the date when picture was taken. Does somebody of you know how that could happen? I've never removed the info with intent. Apart from xnview, i tested picasa and microsofts photoviewer. Can it ...

Re: Small improvements to the UI/Tab container

When i wrote the opening post i already expected that the interest to the topic would be minimal due to the minor importance of such aesthetical issues. I just want to use the opportunity to add some last thoughts to the visual appearance of xnview:

1. I hope that you all can retrace what i mean ...

Re: Small improvements to the UI/Tab container

In the folder/favorite/categories tab container i don't like the tabs which appear on the side. In some layouts normal tabs on the top of the container are appearing. Maybe i overlooked an option but it would be nice to have in all layouts the latter tabs which appear on top.
I agree with this ...

Re: Small improvements to the UI/Tab container

It is not really a mockup in that sense that i used photoshop or such stuff. I just created a layout inside foobar2000 to show how it looks like if a border is drawn from the main tab around the whole browser. In my eyes it indeed looks clean and calm

Edit
Now i see your screenshot. Another ...

Rating/label and categories menu

I think it is more useful to have the icons for rating/label and categories menu in filelist toolbar rather than in browse toolbar.

Small improvements to the UI/Tab container

Let me first say hello to you all! :D

I know xnview for a very long time but it happened two days ago that i discovered xnview mp. It took just few minutes to see the improvements on the ui and many dialogues: xnview mp looks much cleaner and userfriendlier. Thanks for your work, xnview!

However ...
