OK, Cache is not the problem. i cleared it out and turned it off and still have 8,000,000 page faults opening a .jpg in the folder. Sorry.

cache is the problem. It had lots of folders and was 1.06 GB. I removed all the folders, but that took 5 minutes. Perhaps there should be a limit on the size and number of folders it tracks. Now it has 8 KB cache.

Well, I made all the suggested changes and it does not display any videos, but still takes about a minute to display and had 66,000,000 page faults. I have an 8 GByte system running the current version of Windows 7. Changing the View option did not make any difference. Strange.

I have version 1.99.1. When I try to open a .jpg from a folder that has more than 900 video files of all sorts, XnView just hangs for ever. When I look at the task manager, XnView is paging at a rate over 400,000 pages per second. By the time the .jpg was showing, XnView had 65,000,000 pages faults ...
