in gdb, you can type run

It only seems to happen with Manjaro Linux, which uses older libraries and packages than Arch Linux or Garuda Linux.
I have neither your nor my problem with the previous or the most recent updates on Manjaro.

"gdb /opt/XnView/XnView" produces almost no output:

Without a VPN-proxy (nordvpn) it does download fine here as well. So its probably nothing of general concern. Thanks for asking, anyway.

Download of the "Linux x64 DEB version " fails at the moment.

You seem to run thunar with root privileges.
You need root privileges to access the files in this folder.

To check if a package and which version of it is installed:
Open a terminal and enter: followed by package name.
Example: To offer reinstallation in case its already installed is normal behaviour of package managers.

With 98.4 the problem seems to be gone: All videos play well in Manjaro without crashing. Nice!
I find XnViewMP really useful for browsing and managing videos of all kind.

Which distribution and/or version of KDE are you using?
(Having minor problems using XnViewMP only with the latest KDE versions)

Have a look at: Settings > Filelist > Custom Filter
There you can configure which file types, thumbnails and previews you want to be shown.
The "filter" in the main window toolbar has to be set to "all" or "video" as well.
