Re: Symbolic links?

I am not seeing that. As near as I can tell, the following is my situation.

I realized the problem seems to be related to macOS security. I have to grant "Full Disk Access" privileges in System Settings to XnViewMP or it can't see any links. (XnViewMP doesn't alert the user about this, it simply ...

Symbolic links?

I'm using macOS (current version, with current version of XnViewMP).

When I visit a directory containing symbolic links to image files, they don't appear in the XnViewMP file browser. For instance, if the following is the output of ls -l dir1 is
lrwxr-xr-x 1 rmmm staff 16 Jan 21 22:50 howdy.jpg ...

Re: 0.85 MacOS: Sluggish browsing

I also have a problem with sluggish browsing on Mac. I'm using a MacBook Pro Retina, 15 inch, Mid 2015.

When I select a new file from the file pane, the image is loaded much more slowly than in version 0.84. This is most noticeable when I am scrolling through the files by turning the scroll wheel ...

Re: Scrolling anomaly in 0.81

I checked and the problem is still present in version .82.

I should be clear that when I refer to scrolling, I mean scrolling in the preview pane, not the directory listing. In other words, the preview pane has focus and the mouse is hovering over the image.

Most likely XnView decides how to ...

Re: Rename directory bug in 0.81

Yes, specifically the Folders tab of the Browser. It doesn't seem to be a problem in the favorites tab or in the file list.

0.81: Rename directory bug

If you rename a directory by right clicking on its name in the browser pane and selecting "rename," then XnView can successfully rename the directory on disk. However, the browser pane is not correctly updated. The directory ends up with the wrong kind of icon and it no longer displays the directory ...

0.81: Scrolling anomaly

The view pane responds to mouse wheel movements by scrolling up and down the file list of the current directory. However, if you scroll up to the top of a directory listing, to the ".." representing the enclosing directory, then scroll down no longer works.

New annoyance in version .81

At the bottom of the view pane, there are tabs. (I usually use View 2, but I don't this matters.) I generally always want the "Preview" tab if the file is an image file, unless I deliberately ask for something else. In order to avoid distractions, I removed all of the tabs other than "Preview" that ...

Re: Provide a version of XnViewMP with no thumbnail support

The other application should have no thumbnails code at all.

One such application is imagemagick. Feel free to use it.

Imagemagick is geared to image conversion and processing, not image viewing. I'm primarily interested in image viewers. A more relevant comparison is iPhoto. If you love ...

Provide a version of XnViewMP with no thumbnail support

I consider thumbnails stupid. If a directory contains only a few photos, they are unnecessary. If it contains a lot, thumbnails are impractical:
1. There are many images to display. That's slow and it usually leads to memory leaks.
2. The thumbnails are a waste of disk space.
3. It slows the ...
