Corrupted RW2/NEF file (not viewable on LR) === XnConvert ===> image file (no loss, like TIFF) + metadata file (EXIF, etc) === import ===> photos displayed in LightRoom

Yes, exactly, EXIF metadata. I am not sure to understand IPTC/EXIF/XMP difference, but I am looking for a way to integrate metadata to image file or extract them into a regular file. The final goal is to import the restored images into LR.

Hi,
I faced a huge RAID-1 corruption 2 years ago on my photo storage. I lost about 70% of my photos, essentially RW2 (Panasonic) & NEF (Nikon) files. I kept the damaged files (ie they are not viewable in LR or Preview, on Mac). Yesterday, I tried to open some of them with XnView... and some are ...
